Kahramaa Awareness Park to open in Qatar this fall
A futuristic-looking education center located in Al Thumama will finally open to the public after Eid Al-Adha in September, organizers have confirmed.
When it launches, the Kahramaa Awareness Park will try to teach adults and children about electricity and water conservation through exhibitions and 3D films.
That’s the message touted by state utilities provider’s Kahramaa’s conservation program, which is called Tarsheed.
Even though it hasn’t opened yet, the park has already won numerous awards for its unique design.
In an article last year, the Peninsula reported that the facility is equipped with solar panels and wind turbines that make it more environmentally friendly.
Speaking to Doha News today, a Kahramaa spokesperson said that the facility will open between September and October of this year.
A final opening date will be confirmed once senior officials’ availability is sorted, he added.
Previously, organizers said the opening of the park was delayed because it was awaiting exhibition models and materials from places like the US.
On the bright side, the road network surrounding the park has been upgraded significantly in recent years.
The park sits on Najma St. off of E-Ring Road. As part of works to improve the area’s infrastructure, a new signal-controlled intersection is being installed there.
It has four lanes and three dedicated turn lanes in each direction on E-Ring Road, and three lanes and three dedicated turning lanes each way on Najma St.
